Overview

The Country Club at Wakefield Plantation is seeking a Head Swim Coach to lead the club's swim team. This position will provide direct leadership, instruction, motivation to swimmers, and attend all swim meets, team functions, practices, meetings and the swim team banquet. The Head Coach will help develop and improve the technical and physical skills of swimming in each participant while providing a fun and enjoyable environment.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Enthusiastic and energetic leadership.
  • Prepare workouts that are adapted to the variable skills and abilities of swimmers.
  • Have prompt attendance at all scheduled practices, functions and meets.
  • Maintain a friendly and approachable attitude.
  • Establish and maintain respectful and effective working relationships with the swimmers, assistant coaches, club staff and parents.
  • Instruct swimmers on proper swimming form and technique.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Coach(s) to provide a well-rounded, fun and competitive swim season for our members.
  • Observe swimmers to understand and correct mistakes.
  • Provide appropriate feedback on performance to each swimmer.
  • Determine with the help of the assistant coaches, all individual and relay events for the swimmers at swim meets.
  • Help oversee the swim team website, communication of meet information, practice updates, posting of meet results, team records, and team roster with the help from the assistant coaches.
  • Work with the timing system and organize all line-up’s for meets, submitting them by the required time.
  • Send out weekly communication emails to the parents and/or swimmers about upcoming meets/announcements.
  • Update meet results online and on the record board within 48 hours after meet is completion.
  • Ensure that after each practice and meet, the facility is left as requested and that all pool equipment is back in place, including lane lines. 
  • Help order ribbons, trophies and awards.
  • Attend all required meetings, meets, social functions and practices.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • At least 2-4 years of coaching experience
  • 3-4 years of competitive swimming experience (preferred)
  • CPR & First Aid certifications
  • Demonstrates strong communication & leadership skills
  • Enthusiastic, patient and able to give simple instruction
  • Works well with others including coaches, staff and parents
