Overview

“Country Club of Asheville is seeking a Catering & Events Director to join our team. The Catering and Events Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of catering operations for banquets, weddings, corporate events, and other special occasions held at our venue. This role coordinates event planning, menu selection, client relations, and staff supervision to ensure the successful execution of events and the satisfaction of our guests. This role combines proactive sales efforts with seamless event planning and execution, ensuring a premium experience that aligns with the club's standards and member expectations.  The Catering & Events Director position is hands on, member facing, and responsible for all the day-to-day catering services.  The Catering and Events Director reports directly to the General Manager.

The primary job duties of the Catering and Events Director include but are not limited to:

• Member services, first and foremost

• Plans, coordinate, and executes all Club events.

• Promotes and markets the Club events to the members.

• Markets the Club’s event facilities and capabilities to the membership.

• Works with members in planning private events including weddings, luncheons, dinners, and meetings.

• Prepares BEOs, room layouts, and checks the function sheets against actual setup.

• Assists in scheduling team members.

• Maintains a visible presence on the floor during events and carefully supervises staff to ensure proper execution of service that meets the Club’s standards.

• Responsible for a hands-on approach as needed.

• Works with the Executive Chef to determine selling prices, menus, and details for events.

• Coordinates the printing of menus, procuring of decorations, entertainment, and other special requests.

• Takes a proactive approach to operations and manages feedback, taking appropriate corrective action.

• Assures that all side work is accomplished and all cleaning of equipment and storage areas is completed.

• Directs pre-event meetings with staff to ensure good communication and proper implementation during each event or shift. Communicates with the team on current events at the Club.

• Assures the correct appearance, cleanliness, and safety of dining areas, equipment, and fixtures.

• Maintains an inventory on silverware, glassware, linen, and other items and ensures that they are properly stores and accounted for.

• Works with the Food and Beverage Director to monitor labor.

• Coordinates bar inventory and supplies for banquet events; completes inventory for billing purposes.

• Manages banquet billing and arranges prompt payment for all events.

• Helps create catering budgets; reviews financial reports and takes corrective actions as appropriate to help assure that budget goals are met.

• Assumes responsibility of manager-on-duty when necessary.

• Updates weekly event information for all affected staff.

• Attends scheduled staff meetings.

• Promotes a service focused, warm and friendly private club environment as an Ambassador of the Organization, advocating McConnell Golf’s philosophy, mission and values to members, prospective members and staff – “We are building Clubs of the Future.”

Qualifications

• Excellent oral and written communication skills

• Proficiency in presentation of projects

• Solid knowledge of Catering and Events Operations

• Proficient with computer technology and standard software programs

• Ability to interact professionally with all departments and outside contacts

• Able to handle multiple tasks and at times in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

• Actively use time-management system for appointments, projects, deadlines, follow-up

Salary Range

USD $49,000.00 - USD $53,000.00 /Yr.
